During Sherman’s Military career he served as a very important General for the Union Army during the American Civil War (1861-1865). Known for his harshness against the South, Sherman executed a Military Strategy coined “Total War”. Sherman implemented this strategy while on his “March to the Sea” with policies such as the “scorched earth” policy; an operational method that involves destroying anything and everything that is of potential use to the enemy while advancing or withdrawing from an area. |
